So how does a paraplegic turtle get around?
On a skateboard of course!
Arava is a 10-year-old spurred turtle, and lives at the Jerusalem Biblical Zoo. Her back legs are paralysed, and she can't get around using only her front legs. So her keepers had the inspiration of building her a metal board with two wheels, which can be strapped to her stomach.
Now she's being pursued by an amorous 10-year-old male...so perhaps it's just as well she can play hard to get!
